Although Redeeming Love is Christian fiction novel, it is not the kind of book that will bombard you with unending bible verses compelling you to do one thing or the other but as you read this book, you will begin to see God’s perfect plan and his sovereign power.
Romantically written, the story of Angel is one that depicts the immense unwavering, patient and unconditional love of God. It is a story that is based on the book of Hosea who was a minor prophet in the old testament.
Angel is a broken girl. Her father never wanted her to be born since he had another family. Life happens and her mother dies. She is then sold into prostitution at the age of 8 years. As young as she is, she has to learn to block every kind of feeling in order to survive.
She becomes a highly priced prostitute in Pair-a-Dice because of her extra ordinary beauty. Men line up for her. They have to pay more in order to have her for 30 minutes.
Michael Hosea on the other hand is a prayerful man. Acting on God’s will, he goes to the brothel and pays the price in order to talk to Angel. He is not here to use her like the other men but to take her home as his wife. Angel expects nothing but betrayal from everyone, she survives by keeping her hatred alive. She hates the men who use her and leave her dead and empty inside. She doesn’t think Michael Hosea is any different from the many men she sees everyday.
Michael accepts God’s call to marry Angel and to love her unconditionally. Everyday he defies Angel’s bitter expectations, slowly the walls she has built around her begin to fall and her frozen heart begins to thaw with love. God begins to work on Angel slowly by slowly.
The overwhelming feelings of unworthiness and fear cause angel to run back into her old ways. Michael follows her and brings her back. She runs away again.
Every action, every word and every person that Angel encounters in her life is in God’s plan to mold Angel into the person that God wants her to be. In this beautifully written story, the author addresses a number of issues that affect the human race. She talks about child sex trafficking, adultery, abortion, prostitution, incest, forgiveness etc.
Redeeming love is an easy book to read yet very emotional. I felt sad, angry, shed a tear, felt sorry, relieved, laughed and finally very happy.
This review is not enough, it does not give the book the justice that it deserves. Go pick and read. That’s the only way you will feel, understand and experience the fullness of the author’s intended message.
