Mass testing for coronavirus has kicked off in targeted areas in Kenya. The ministry of health has seen gradual increase in the number of people turning out to be tested.
The targeted areas are Kawangware, Easleigh and Mvita to help identify and isolate those infected with the virus in a move to curb the disease.
People in these areas are urged to turn up and get tested.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1,012 samples have been tested. 25 have turned out positive.
15 of the positive cases are from Nairobi while 10 are from Mombasa.
13 are male whereas 12 are female whose ages range from 6 months to 60 years.
The total number of positive cases in Kenya stand at 490. There have been 6 more recoveries. Total number of recoveries stand at 173.
Eastleigh-8, Kariobangi South-10, Mathare-1, Kawangware-2, Kahawa West- 1 and Umoja-2.
In Mombasa, the cases are spread out as follows; Bombolulu-1, Old Town-8 and Jomvu-1.
