Kakamega County has been put on high alert after three people exhibited signs of the deadly coronavirus.
The three have been put in quarantine and are being observed by trained medical professionals.
One of the patients is a business man who travelled from Dubai. The second patient is a woman who had travelled from Rongai, Nairobi. The third patient is a lady who had travelled from Qatar, she is under self quarantine after seeking treatment at a private hospital in the area.
Results of the samples that were sent to Kenya Medical Research Institute turned out negative. All the patients are in stable condition and are still being monitored by medical officers.
The Kakamega County Governor has urged citizens to keep social distance and avoid crowded areas. In places where this is not possible, the Governor has urged citizens to work from home.
The county government together with the national government has set up communication command centre at Kakamega General Hospital.
