Today, Kenya recorded the highest single day COVID-19 cases since the disease set in the country.
The government spokesperson, Cyrus Oguna, announced that 2,198 samples had been tested in the last 24 hours. 57 of them tested positive bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 887.
Mombasa registered 35 cases, Nairobi 17, Kajiado 3, Kwale 1 and Kitui 1
Of the recorded cases, 34 are male while 23 are female. Their ages range from 2 years to 61 years.
Since the disease set in the country, a total of 43.712 samples have been tested so far.
The cases from Mombasa were from Mvita-22, Likoni-4, Changamwe-3, Nyali-3, Kisauni-2 and Jomvu-1.
The 17 cases in Nairobi are from: Kibra 9, Eastleigh 2, one quarantine centre 2, Dandora, Pangani, Kamulu amd Aga Khan Hospital had one case each.
In Kwale, the positive case is from Msambweni, In Kitui the case was recorded in Mwingi Town.
The three cases in Kajiado are from: Kajiado central 2 and Kajiado North one case.
12 more people have been discharged from the hospital making the number of recovered patients 313. 50 deaths have been recorded so far.
12 truck drivers from Tanzania tested positive and were sent back to Tanzania by authorities.
