How far can one go just to protect the life of a tree? A 34 year old environmentalist, Kate Cunningham, tied the note with a tree in order to protect it.
The tree is located at Rimrose Valley Park, Merseyside, England.
Kate Cunningham who works as an environmentalist, decided to ‘marry’ the tree to protest against plans of a three-mile dual carriageway set to be built through the park.
She even went further and changed her name to Kate Rose-Elder after the tree species that she married.
Her boyfriend allowed her to take part in the symbolic wedding ceremony on Saturday 7th September.
The entire town was invited to join her friends and family at the wedding ceremony where the bride wore green.
Highways England proposes building a three-mile long bypass through the Rimrose Valley in order to ease traffic congestion going into the Port of Liverpool and the city’s famous dock.
Let’s hope that Cunningham’s union with the tree will help save the environment.
