Eliud Kipchoge is a World marathon record holder and he is bound to break his own record by participating in the ineos 1.59 challenge in Vienna, Austria.
The idea to attempt running a marathon in under 2 hours was rolled by British chemical firm INEOS. The company is owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Nike.
Nike will be sponsoring Eliud Kipchoges shoes in the marathon.
The champion was flown from Eldoret International Airport by Sir Jim’s Gulfstream G280 jet. He was accompanied by pacemakers Gideon Kipketer and Augustine Choge along with coach Patrick Sang and physiotherapist Peter Nduhiu.
The organisers of the race are set to announce the date and time when the challemge is set to take place.
