Amason Kingi, Kilifi County governor, has declared the county coronavirus free.
This is after the remaining two people who were suffering from the disease were declared COVID-19 free and discharged from the hospital.
The county had registered six cases of the disease. All of them have recovered so far with no deaths recorded.
Today I visited the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI)- Kilifi, for a briefing on the fight against Covid-19 in Kilifi County. This is after the last two cases of Corona Virus infections fully recovered and were discharged from our Isolation Center.the governor said .
At the moment, Kilifi does not have any active Covid-19 case under care in any of our health facilities. Scientific results show that out of the 499 tested cases in Kilifi, the 6 cases that had confirmed positive have all recovered thanks.He added.
Edwin Saburi who is the deputy county governor of Kilifi was the first person to test positive for the disease after jetting back into the country.
Despite having no active cases at the moment, the governor urged the citizens of Kilifi county to continue adhering to the laid down safety measures as they are not yet out of the woods in regards to the pandemic.
We must continue observing the laid down protocols from both the national and county government.Said the governor
