The Nairobi Women’s hospital has been on the limelight for all the wrong reasons.
First news circulated social media that a patient who was being transferred to the High Dependency Unit got stuck in the hospital’s lift for over an hour.
Two weeks later, Whatsapp screenshot conversations of The Nairobi Women’s hospital staff have gone viral.
In the conversations, health providers were being asked to admit patients unnecessarily in order to meet their daily targets.
In the conversations employees were asked to delay discharging patients.
Due to this crude methods that they use to extort money from patient’s, health Insurance companies have withdrawn from footing bills from the hospital.
The Association of Kenya Insurers has resolved not to pay the cost from Nairobi Women’s Hospital over what they said was inflation of costs. This was after they held a meeting on February 4th soon after the whatsapp messages from Nairobi Women’s hospital staff went viral.
Insurance firms that have withdrawn from the hospital include CIC, AAR and Old Mutual.
