Suna East member of Parliament Hon Junet Mohammed was honored with the The Order of the Burning Spear in the recent state commendations released commemorating Jamhuri day, the 12th of December.
Junet was among the 29 people this year to receive the second highest category of the awards is the Order of the Burning Spear which is equally divided into the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (C.B.S.), Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (E.B.S.) and Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (M.B.S.).
One might wonder what huge efforts the Suna East MP has served to receive such a high honor.
Junet is probably the closest Raila ally and most trusted lieutenants by the ODM leader. Unlike Uhuru Kenyatta who might have walked into the Handshake alone, Raila Odinga definitely walked with Junet.
His most recent interaction with the media was during the BBI report launch where he was chosen as the master of ceremony to the disappointment, anger and frustration of Ruto allies. Done in purpose of by mistake remains a mystery.
During the event, Junet made it hard for Ruto allied political leaders to address the function. It is during the event that Senate majority Leader hon Kipchumba murkomen made an emotional address demanding that leaders from both sides of the BBI report should be allowed to speak freely.
Junet also made frequent jokes and jabs targeting the turmoil in Jubilee party that left the president in stitches to the disappointment of DP Ruto who was sitting close by.
It would not be far fetched to assume that his performance during the BBI report launch and his ties to Raila Odinga earned him The Order of the Burning Spear.
