Have you ever wondered why you get easily distracted? Is it because the distractions are readily available thus making it hard for you to concentrate or is it because you lack motivation which results in your mind wondering off?
It’s a typical egg or chicken question. Sometimes concentrating and focusing on one thing can be really tough.
Lack of motivation does not mean that you are lazy, sometimes it is a natural result of working on things that are not stimulating or challenging. Other times it is the magnitude of what you encounter along your journey.
If you are struggling with motivation here are a few ways to keep you on track;
Set the right goals
It may sound so simple but setting the right goals will create a blueprint of where your future actions. The trick lies in setting the right goals: not too high and not too low. Why? Because when you set your goals too high, you are bound to lose them as they become unrealistic to you. On the other hand, when you set your goals too low, you assume it as you tend to think you will automatically hit it. According to James Clear, humans experience peak motivation when working on tasks that are right on the edge of their current abilities. Not too hard. Not too easy. Just right
Have a mentor
mentor will help you through the journey. When things become rock tight they will show you how to navigate through because they have probably encountered similar obstacles before. Your mentor will act as your accountability partner. It is easy to slump back and give up when you are on your own with no one to monitor your progress. Knowing that you have to be accountable for your actions will push you to do the right thing and work towards your goal
