The 45th President o the United states, Donald Trump, has been impeached by the House making him the 3rd President to be impeached in the history of America.
The other two presidents that have been impeached in the past are Bill Clinton and Andrew Johnson. When the House impeaches a president, He can still continue to serve. The Senate is then supposed to hold a trial to decide whether to remove him from office or not. The other two presidents were acquitted by the senate.
Why Donald Trump was impeached.
- The first account of impeachment accused Trump of using the federal government and Taxpayers money for his personal and political gain.
2. The second account accused him of obstructing inquiry into his actions on Ukraine.
Both accounts were passed with the first account getting 230 votes for and 197 votes against impeachment.
The second account got 229 votes for impeachment and 198 votes against.
Basically Trump is impeached but he is still in office. The Senate is therefore supposed to hold a trial to determine whether Trump remains in office or not.
The motion to impeach Donald Trump was tabled on 24th september by Nancy Pelosi. If the senate removes Trump from office, the Vice President, Mike Pence, will take over.
