President Uhuru Kenyatta has today extended the ongoing curfew in the counrty for 60 days.
This is due to the rise in Covid infections.
In his statement, the head of state lifted the specific curfew hours and restrictions for zones that had initially been identified as hot spots. These zones included Kisumu, Siaya,Homa Bay, Migori, Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet and Trans Nzoia counties.
These zones will now join the entire country in the nationwide curfew restrictions from 10pm to 4am.
All physical public gatherings and meetings have been suspended and this includes political rallies and campaigns that had started picking momentum ahead of the 2022 general elections.
The head of state also encouraged citizens to get vaccinated and observe the Civid-19 protocols as stipulated by the Ministry Of Health.
