The Jubilee party has released a press statement stating that it will not field a candidate in the Msambweni Parliamentary by-election.
The party secretary General, Raphael Tuju, stated that although participating in the by-election is an important way of revitalizing the party at the grassroots level, the party had decided not to engage in the contest due to the prevailing challenges at the moment.
One of the reasons stated in the press release was the advisory by the chief justice to dissolve the parliament stating that the country has serious constitutional matters to deal with that require sobriety.
The other reason why Jubilee is not fielding a candidate for the post is that there has been corporation between Jubilee and ODM in parliament on matters of national importance and since this was an ODM seat, Jubilee has decided not to field a candidate in the interest of the bigger picture.
Tuju also said that the announcement has been given in good time so that any aspirant who has interest in the Jubilee ticket can still have other pathways in running for the seat.
The Msambweni parliamentary seat was left vacant after the death of ODM legislator the late Hon. Suleiman Ramadhani Dori.
The By-election is slated to take place on 15th December.
