Days after he escaped police custody in Nairobi, the self confessed serial killer, Masten Wanjala, received the beating of his life from angry villagers that sent him
The incident happened in Mukhweya village.
The area chief Boniface Ndiera affirmed the reports saying that he has received a phone call from one of the residents saying that Wanjala had been spotted.
He said that Masten was seen by children who were going to school and when they recognized him, they ran to a nearby police police station.
Wanjala is said to have ran for his life after he was recognized but angry residents ran after him.
He dashed into a neighbour’s home and locked himself inside but the mob broke the door, took him outside and within two seconds they had already killed him.
“Wananchi waliokuwa na hamaki walivunja mlango na wakamtoa nje and within two seconds.. walikuwa wamemuua tayari,” the area chief said.
Wanjala who was in custody at the Jogoo Road Police station escaped on 13th October, the officer who reported on duty at 7am on Wednesday noticed that Wanjala was missing, this is according to the police report on the incident.
“This was noticed when they were taking over the report office and cell sentry duties. They informed the D/ocs who was in the report office minuting cases in the OB,” read the report.
“The deputy OCS informed the OCPD Buruburu and raised alarm and the area was combed inorder to re arrest the prisoner.”
Three police officers have been arrested for allegedly aiding the escape of the self confessed killer.
They will be charged with aiding escape from lawful custody and neglect of official duty contrary to section 124 and 128 of the Penal code respectively.
