Even though the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases has multiplied more slowly in Africa than in Asia and Europe, South Africa has recently recorded a high number of new infections bringing the number up by 52.
South Africa has now reported 202 cases of Coronavirus as at Friday 20th.
Egypt has recorded 256 cases which is the highest in Africa. The government of Egypt has reported 7 deaths with 42 people recovering after receiving treatment.
It is expected that more cases of Coronavirus will be reported in the coming weeks. The World Health Organization has warned that Africa should brace itself for tough times.
In Europe, Italy continues to register more deaths due to COVID-19. 627 more deaths were recorded by Friday 20th bringing the death toll to 4,032. Italy has also announced 5,986 new cases.
According to World Health Organization, more than 8,700 people have died globally with 209,000 having been infected.
Spain has recorded the highest death toll of 1,002 in a single day. Statistics show that there were 19,980 confirmed cases across the country.
