The ministry of Water sanitation and irrigation has moved in to reclaim 1600 acres of land in Ruai.
The land which was meant for sanitation of Nairobi and its environs was occupied by construction workers and chinese developers who were evicted as bulldozers begun digging trenches to secure the land.
The land which was also supposed to be used for the expansion of Sanitation and storage facilities as well as treatment plant for nairobi was grabbed by private developers.
According to NTV, out of the original 4440 acres of land set aside for the expansion of water and sewerage facilities the grabers took 2726 acres encroaching the stinking sewage ponds.
The land in question has been linked to the Deputy president William Ruto and former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo.
People who have illegally built houses close to the sewage ponds making it impossible to expand the sewer system, had been given 72 hour to vacate before the demolition starts on Sunday.
The treatment plant is said to be inhabited by Hippos and crocodiles. The system was last upgraded 40 years ago.
