Chaos, teargas and heavy security engulfed London Ward, Nakuru county yesterday.
This was a result of police moving in to block a planned political meeting which was to be held by Deputy President William Ruto’s allies.
A few law makers had started a campaign meeting to drum up support for the United Democratic Alliance candidate, Anthony Nzuki Wachira, for the London Ward by-election.

However, the meeting did not take place as police were deployed to disperse both the organisers and the supporters.
Police officers declared the meeting illegal and logged teargas canisters to disperse those present.
They claimed that the organisers had not given a notice that there would be a political meeting and the supporters had not adhered to Covid-19 safety measures.
Overwhelmed and overpowerd, the UDA suporters ran for safety.

Nakuru Senator, Susan Kihika, and Members of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati), John Kiarie (Dagoretti), Mohammed Ali (Nyali) and Cecilly Mbarire were also present in meeting at Milimani when police dispersed them and their supporters.
They cried foul saying citizens of London ward will not be forced to vote for the Jubilee candidate and the concerned party should stop misusing the police.
The by elections are set to take place on 4th March after the seats of London ward and Hell’s Gate fell vacant following the deaths of Samuel Mbugua(London Ward) and John Njenga(Hell’s Gate Ward) in November.
