The death of Tanzania’s president John Pombe Magufuli came as a shock to many.
Many knew him for his stand in regards to the existence of Coronavirus.
His death was announced by Tanzania’s Vice President Samia Hassan Suluhu.
In a televised address, the vice president said that the late president fell ill on March 6th and was rushed to Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute in Tanzania before he was transferred to Mzena hospital where he was admitted until his demise.
Tanzania is currently holding a 14 days mourning period ahead of burial plans.
Flags will fly half-mast during this period.
Magufuli was 61 years old at the time of his death.
He was born in Chato, Geita region on October 29th 1959.
He has left behind a wife , Janeth Magufuli, with whom he had five children.
