Keroche breweries owners, Joseph Karanja and Tabitha Karanja, are mourning the death of their daughter, Tecra Muigai, after a tragic accident that occurred in Lamu.
Before her death, Tecra Muigai worked as the Strategy and Innovation Director at Keroche Breweries.
The statement that was released by the family does not give details of the accident but it is said that Tecra died after falling from the balcony of a holiday home in Lamu where she was residing with a friend.
“The board of directors and management of Keroche Breweries is deeply saddened to inform that Tecra Muigai passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020, afternoon following a tragic accident,” read part of the statement, ” Tecra’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of important innovatons that have enriched the company’s product range including the development of new brands that were scheduled to be launced this year.”
She was airlifted to Nairobi for treatment and was in the Intensive Care Unit for three days before she died.
One of Tecra’s friends said she found her lying unconscious at the apartment where she lived with blood oozing out of her mouth.
Omar Lali who had been living with her since April was arrested by homicide detectives after inconsistencies in his statement. He had frst said that Tecra had tumbled down the staircase and later changed his statement and said that she had tripped in the bathroom.
