Tecra Muigai’s lover, Omar Lali, will remain in detention for three weeks as investigations into her murder continue.
Tecra who is the daughter of Joseph and Tabitha Karanja of Keroche breweries was found immobile in her apartment in Lamu by one of her friends. She was rushed to hospital for treatment and later airlifted to Nairobi.
She stayed in the Intensive Care Unit for three days and later passed on.
Allan Temba, Lamu principal Magistrate, issued the detention order of Omar Lali, her boyfriend, to allow investigations into the ciecunstance that led to the fall and eventual death of the former Strategy and Innovation Director at Keroche Breweries.
Omar Lali is regarded as the main suspect after detectives noticed inconsistencies in his account.
Initially he said Tecra had tumbled down the stairs then later said she fell in the bathroom. He will now remain at Lamu Police station as investigations continue.
The suspect is said to have been living with Ms Muigai since April. He was sound asleep when Tecra’s friend came to the apartment and had to be woken up.
Tecra’s friend is said to have Tecra immobile at the apartment with blood oozing from her mouth.
