William Ruto’s ally, Mohamed Salim. who is also known as Tenge has been arrested by police in Kilifi county for breaking COVID-19 rules while distributing relief food.
The charge sheet stated that Mohamed engaged in crime while distributing relief food on Monday 18th at Majengo Kanamai in Kilifi South.
He was charged for organising a public gathering and failing to maintain social distancing which he pleaded gulty to and was fined ksh3,000.
On Monday the 18th, Salim had managed to escape arrest at his Majengo residence in Mombasa county afer a tip off. He had just arrived at his house ready to break his fast but had to use the back door to escape arrest.
He was however arrested on Tuesday the 19th and was detained at Mtwapa police station.
Mohammed was able to traverse counties because he had been issued with an essential services pass amidst the lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic.
He was distributing food to economically vulnerable communities affected by Coronavirus and volunteers at the Likoni channel. The distributed items included food items, masks and sanitizers.
All that changed after word went around that he was doing all that on behalf of the Deputy President, William Ruto.

Nyali MP Mohamed Ali said Tenge was arrested when he said the food he was donating was from Deputy President William Ruto and that his arrest is part of the persecution of the DP.
