If you have ever wanted to do something that destabilizes your comfort and routine, you will agree with me that it is always never the right time. You always want to start tomorrow. There is always a reason not to do it today. You always want to wait for the right moment so that you can strike. No one wants to leave their comfort zone.

It is not uncommon to come across someone who tells you they are waiting for January for them to start saving. Someone else will tell you they are waiting for the economy to improve so that they can invest or start a business. Another one is waiting for February when they will have all the tools they need so that they can start whatever it is they want to start. Why? The comfort zone is the place we want to be.

That’s how the human mind acts. There will always be a reason not to start. You will postpone saving because you don’t have enough money. You will postpone medical check ups because you are not feeling sick. Eating healthy can always wait since you are not overweight yet.

It is always never the right time to start. The conditions will never be perfect. To achieve something meaningful, you have to get out of your comfort zone.

I have always wanted to have the right time so that I can do the right things but sadly the right time never comes.

Waiting to have the right tools, the perfect skills and the perfect time may take a lifetime. If you have a desire and a passion to do something, just immerse yourself in it. As long as you have the basics, the rest will follow. Your determination, discipline and willingness to learn is what will drive you.

Personally, I always had a desire to write. I wanted the world to read what I write but I did not know how I was going to do it. When I wrote my first blog post in 2013, I had no idea what I was doing. It was just a passion. I did not own a smartphone let alone laptop. I used to write my articles in an exercise book then when I got some time, I went to the cyber to type them.

I had every reason not to write. I wasn’t earning from it, I had no readily available internet, I did not have the best articles, the list could go on and on. All I had was hope. Hope that one day things would get better and with time, they did.

It sounded weird and none of those close to me ever understood why I wasted so much time doing something so meaningless. I then opened a blog and started publishing my posts. I started with blogspot then moved went to wordpress followed by a few custom domains which I ended up closing down.

So far this is my fifth blog. It has been a series of trial and error with lots of failures along the way. However, one thing has remained constant -growth. My skills have improved and I cannot imagine where I would be if I had not followed my writing passion. If I had waited for the perfect time, I would never have had any article published.

Up to date, I have never had a perfect point in life where I can comfortably say it is the perfect time for me to do my writing. I am not where I want to be but I am making progress.

It doesn’t matter the circumstance, if you want something so badly, you can always weave your way out by getting out of your comfort zone.

You cannot sit, watch the wind and expect to reap.
